SLYCE coal fired pizza strives to “pay it forward” with Wine for a Cause

SLYCE Coal Fired Pizza sets in motion Wine for a Cause. Wine for a Cause supports local causes and neighbors in need, right here in our community. Slyce has partnered with Santa Cristina Winery to make all of this possible. All you need to do is donate $10 for “The Cause” and get a bottle of wine from Santa Cristina Winery. There are four varietals to choose from, two reds and two whites.

SLYCE just wrapped up their first Wine for a Cause campaign which helped two SLYCE employees that were involved in a serious car accident in August. The response from patrons and community was overwhelming. The support these employees received exceeded the 100 bottle a week goal, with a total of 708 bottles sold.

The success of this program warms our hearts and we are especially grateful to be able to help another Wauconda family in need, but we can’t do it without your support. Since we are in the season of giving, raised our goal from 100 bottles a week to 150 a week. Take this opportunity to help the Gibis family and stock up for your holiday parties, fill your cupboards (or wine fridge) as we head into winter, and don’t forget, wine makes a great gift!

Wine for a Cause Recipient #2 is Pierson Gibis.

Here is his story:
Two and half months ago Pierson Gibis, a 17 year old bright, healthy and athletic young man was suddenly given the most shocking news of his life. He was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, or RMS, is an aggressive and highly malignant form of cancer that develops from skeletal muscle cells that have failed to fully differentiate. In the next year, he will have to go through chemotherapy and radiation and prove what it’s like to fight like a warrior. Pierson a senior at Wauconda High School, has played baseball most of his life and was playing just a week before he went to the hospital after complaining of pain to his back and legs. This treatment is a long process in which he won’t be able to go to school often or play baseball. As the family focuses on his health they remain positive about his strength, attitude and desire to beat this very serious disease. They appreciate all the positive energy, prayers and thoughtfulness that they feel from their family, friends and the entire community behind them.
