Who We Are

We’ve been a restaurant family for three generations. Our first venue, Lindy’s Restaurant, Beach Club, Banquets and Marina on Bangs Lake in Wauconda, opened more than 60 years ago and remains one of the region’s most popular spots for great meals, special celebrations, and spending quality time together. Now, we’ve made sure that same spirit infuses every one of our SLYCE Coal Fired Pizza locations.

Our Inspiration

The idea to create SLYCE was sparked during family trips to the East Coast. From New York to Miami, we saw pizzerias turning out amazing coal-fired pies with a unique, well-done taste that surpassed the flavor of the typical pizzas we ate in the Midwest. We knew we could use our restaurant experience to introduce our own elevated take on this exciting pizza concept back home.

Our Growth

Armed with research on authentic pizza-making, creative recipe development, a list of the best local ingredient sources, and firsthand knowledge of what exceptional hospitality looks like, we opened our first SLYCE Coal Fired Pizza on Main Street in Wauconda in 2010. Staying true to tradition, we introduced locals to the joys of coal-firing, encouraged them to embrace the char, and built up a loyal clientele. Now, what began as an inspired idea for a single new restaurant in our hometown has grown to include locations in Highwood and Vernon Hills.

Our mission is simple: Have a simple menu that allows us to focus special attention on every ingredient that comes into our building.

We choose and use the best quality ingredients possible. We don’t believe in pre-made, mass-produced food. We source locally-grown or -raised products whenever possible. Our local farmers have a passion for growing the freshest produce around.

All of our dairy products are hormone-free. In addition, we use one of the cleanest, natural-burning resources to heat our ovens. At SLYCE less is more, as our fresh ingredients are delicately placed–not piled on, to create a perfectly balanced pie. So sit back and relax, as we handcraft you one of your favorite, perfectly-charred pies.

Located at the heart of Vernon Hills’ Mellody Farm shopping center, SLYCE serves an elevated menu in a lively, modern setting that’s creative, fun, and shareable every time. 

The original SLYCE on Wauconda’s Main Street reflects the township’s friendly vibe and quality of life with a fresh, elevated dining experience for locals and visitors alike.

At SLYCE, we pride ourselves in community involvement. From chamber outings to dine-and- donate nights, our SLYCE Cares initiative was created as a program to give back to the communities that have helped us grow over the years.
